Fortbrand Services, Inc., the exclusive North American distributor for the Vammas line of snow removal equipment, announced that Halifax International Airport (YHZ) has taken delivery of the first Vammas PSB 5500 manufactured in the United States. Halifax is leasing the unit for the 2008/2009 snow season, with an option to purchase the unit.

In March 2008, Hagie Manufacturing Company of Clarion, Iowa, acquired the airport snow removal line of products from the Finnish company Patria Vammas. Production of all Vammas equipment has moved to Hagie’s facility in the United States. The high quality of Vammas equipment will be maintained and further developed for the North American market. The Hagie equipment will be eligible for FAA AIP funding.

Fortbrand Services continues to be the exclusive Distributor in North America for the Vammas/Hagie line of airport snow removal equipment and continues to provide all aftermarket support services.

Hagie is fully familiar with the airport market, having previously adapted its line of agricultural sprayers to airport use. Hagie, working in conjunction with management and technicians at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, has developed its GST 20 sprayer into a multi-function, multi-seasonal runway sprayer. The GST 20 can be coupled with the Vammas PS4200 Edge Light Plow / Sign Cleaner or a flail mower attachment. The Hagie GST 20, with attachments, is in use at JFK, MSP, BOS, DTW, YYC, RNO, RME & MKE.
